South African wine has a history dating back to 1659, with the first bottle produced in Cape Town by its founder Jan van Riebeeck. Access to international markets led to new investment in the South African wine market. Production is concentrated around Cape Town, with major vineyard and production centres at Constantia, Paarl, Stellenbosch and Worcester.

The Winery of Good Hope is located in the wine region of Stellenbosch in the Cape of Good Hope. Founded in 1998 and specialising in the mountainous viticultural sub regions of the Helderberg (Stellenbosch), Elgin, and the Perderberg (Swartland). The Winery of Good Hope produces four distinctive wine ranges using traditional, natural viticultural and winemaking methods, at their own estate on the Helderberg mountain and are fully accredited for environmental, ethical, and social-upliftment practices.
