Argentina

Argentina is the fifth largest producer of wine in the world. Mendoza province more than 60% of the Argentine wine and is the source of an even higher percentage of the total exports. Due to the high altitude and low humidity of the main wine producing regions, the vineyards rarely face the problems of insects, fungi, molds and other grape diseases that affect vineyards in other countries. Argentina's most highly rated Malbec wines originate from Mendoza's high altitude wine regions.

La Posta translates to “the tavern,” where the farmers meet to discuss their soils, their vines, their quest for superior flavors, and their passions for life. In collaboration with wine pioneer Laura Catena and esteemed winemaker Estela Perinetti, the hard work and skill of the people behind the wines are expressed in La Posta.

Laura Catena has a vision of creating a new breed of Argentina wines: small quantities, artisan quality, and true to their individual terroirs. Laura Catena is a fourth generation winemaker, daughter of Nicolas Catena, 2009 Decanter Man of the Year. In 1999, Laura Catena founded LUCA winery to explore the quality potential of small old vine family owned vineyards in the Uco Valley region of Mendoza. They are the ultimate expression of rigorous vineyard management, viticultural experimentation, strict irrigation controls, skilled winemaking, and a quest for quality at any cost.
